But what is DiscoverEU?
1. What is DiscoverEU?
DiscoverEU is part of the Erasmus+ programme and aims to give 18 year olds the opportunity to experience Europe’s cultural diversity and deep history. It is an initiative that offers young people the opportunity to travel around Europe and get to know new cultures and people. The initiative was launched in June 2018, and has since become a popular way for young Europeans to travel and learn.
You will not only receive free travel cards but also special discount cards for various services for example public transport cultural events and food. To participate you have to take part in a quiz with 5 questions about the European Union and another one additional question.
2. Travel dates and options
Shortlisted participants can choose their own itinerary or take inspiration from the suggestions in the DiscoverEU Facebook group. This is a great opportunity to experience the diversity and richness of Europe, from historic cities and cultural sights to breathtaking natural landscapes.
3. Why participate?
DiscoverEU is an integral part of the Erasmus+ program for the period 2021-2027. For many of the young people, this is their first independent trip without adult support, and on their retur. Participants said that this opportunity helped them to feel more independent. DiscoverEU not only helps young people to immerse themselves in the cultural and historical richness of Europe, but also encourages the development of their language and communication skills. In addition, the program provides a valuable opportunity to make new friends and develop a deeper understanding of the common values and challenges in Europe.
4. How to apply?
The application will include a short quiz testing knowledge about the European Union. The best candidates will be selected and given the opportunity to discover Europe in a way they will never forget.
Right now the application round is closed. There are two application rounds per year, one in spring and one in autumn. Keep an eye on this space so you can apply in the next round!

Ще получите не само безплатни карти за пътуване, но и специални карти за отстъпка за различни услуги, например за обществен транспорт, за културни събития, за храна. За да кандидатствате, трябва да участвате във викторина с 5 въпроса за Европейския съюз и още един допълнителен въпрос.
