ESC Volunteering Opportunity at Hopeland, Greece

About Hopeland
Hopeland is an educational eco-community located in a rural area of southern Greece. Built with love and natural materials over the past 13 years, Hopeland serves as a space where people learn from each other and nature while practicing sustainability, accountability and synergy.
This ESC program offers an immersive experience in community living, environmental initiatives and personal development. Volunteers will contribute to various activities while living in a natural setting and supporting a shared vision of ecological and social growth.
Volunteer Activities
As a volunteer, you will:
✅ Maintain & Upgrade – Engage in eco-building, gardening, infrastructure improvements and sustainability projects.
✅ Host Groups & Activities – Help welcome Erasmus+ groups, assist with logistics, facilitate workshops and support communal events.
✅ Outreach to the Local Community – Collaborate with local farmers, participate in environmental initiatives and build partnerships with surrounding communities.
✅ Leave Your Mark – Develop a personal project in areas such as art, gardening, construction, or digital media to contribute uniquely to Hopeland.
Participant Profile
✔️ Aged 18-30 years
✔️ Legal resident of an Erasmus+ Programme country (no visa required for Greece)
✔️ Open to living in a rural setting with basic conditions
✔️ Enthusiastic about hands-on activities (gardening, building, cooking, cleaning, etc.)
✔️ Eager to learn, collaborate and adapt to community life
✔️ Priority is given to participants facing social or economic challenges
✔️ Experience in photography, filmmaking or digital marketing is a plus
Practical Details
💰 Financial Support
- 7€/day pocket money (paid monthly)
- Food expenses covered (managed through a communal fund)
- Travel reimbursement according to ESC guidelines
- Health insurance provided
🏡 Accommodation & Facilities
- Individual teepee tents with basic furniture
- Outdoor and indoor toilets & showers
- Eco-friendly facilities powered by solar energy
- Limited electricity and Wi-Fi access in designated areas
- Vegetarian community lifestyle (no drugs or alcohol allowed)

Obligatory pre-departure meeting: – to be announced and sent upon confirmation.
Come in person to learn about Smokinya, Erasmus+, this project, reimbursement and ask your questions.
Participation is obligatory, an option is to join via Skype / Hangouts apps.
This is learning program funded by Erasmus+ program.
That requires commitment. You will be asked to organise a follow-up activity after the program.
The program is intensive and challenging.
The program does NOT include cultural and touristic sightseeing.
Get to know all provided information in the info letter before you submit your application form.
