Wild Vibes – A rural retreat to reset and thrive | Weekly Recap 67

Another week in Mrachenik and that means another recap on our website. Last week marked the end of summer and with it new and fresher winds appeared in the village, our activities focused on preparing for the change of seasons and computer work without abandoning working outside.

Monday we started the day cleaning the multiple furnaces, the ashes got us a little bit dirty but we managed it with style. The rest of the morning computer work was our bread and butter, during the evening some of us continued with our eyes glued to the screen while the rest went out to clean some of the streets that were filled with weeds that hindered the ability to cross.

Tuesday was a national holiday, the day of independence so we mainly rested and enjoyed the general vibe of the festivities.

Wednesday was helping hands day so we spent the morning taking care of the garden of one of the villagers, summer was not gentle with this garden and it proved to be harder than expected, especially having to deal with some massive thorned plants. During the evening we continued with some tedious but essential computer work and cleaning the streets that we started the previous day.

Thursday we started planning the construction of a wood storage that can fit some of the massive amount of wood that we got last week, as a way to prepare for the upcoming winter, the autumn has just started but for sure some of us are not accustomed to such cold temperatures this early so collecting blankets and debuting the furnaces was of significant importance this week. More computer work and cleaning the streets and the garden of the volunteer’s house was done.

Friday we filmed a vodcast (that soon will be posted in our youtube), some social media and started the editing process, the volunteers had bulgarian class. We fixed a chainsaw that was not working as intended and from then on the rest of the day was spent cutting and organizing the wood.

Finally during the weekend we visited Plovdiv and then went to Sofia to say goodbye to a friend that is finishing his own volunteering project and going back to his country. Visiting these beautiful cities is always an exciting experience especially if it is for an emotional occasion like this one.

This is the end of another week in Mrachenik, maybe the weather becomes cold, but the people and experiences remain with the same warmth as ever.
