1.The NEB at the Davos Baukultur Alliance Annual Meeting
The New European Bauhaus took part in the Davos Baukultur Alliance Annual Meeting, held at the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern, which brought together over 110 cross-sector leaders to advance a shared agenda around quality, liveability and cultural identity in the built environment.
The NEB contributed to the session “Valuing Place: Culture, Identity and Long-Term Value”, exploring why the qualities that make places meaningful to people are still sidelined in financial models, and what it would take to treat place identity as a serious investment factor. The discussion brought together participants from cities, governments, financial institutions and civil society.
The Davos Baukultur Alliance has also now opened applications for the second cohort of Pioneering Places, an initiative advancing quality in the built environment. Cities, local governments, development agencies and place-based initiatives are encouraged to apply here.

2.Join the Commission’s new European Housing Alliance
Dan Jørgensen, European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, is inviting Member States, regions, cities, and stakeholders across the EU to join Europe’s first-ever Housing Alliance. This landmark initiative is designed to strengthen cooperation, mutual learning, and sharing of best practices on housing across the EU.
The Alliance will play a key role in delivering on the ground the European Affordable Housing Plan presented by the Commission to tackle the housing crisis affecting millions of Europeans.
Organisations interested in joining the European Housing Alliance can express their commitment by completing the online registration form.
An information meeting to shape the Alliance will take place on 19 June 2026. Possibility to register is included in the form above. Updates on next steps and future activities will be shared via email and the dedicated webpage.

3.WoodStock: €200,000 grant call to accelerate climate-smart wood construction
Europe cannot meet its climate goals without transforming how it builds. To help turn the potential of underutilised wood (including hardwood, residual, damaged and post-consumer wood) into practical circular construction solutions, the Horizon Europe WoodStock project is launching a new grant call on 15 September 2026.
SMEs, start-ups, non-profits and consortia led by these entities can apply for up to €50,000 each (four grants available, totalling €200,000) to develop, test and scale innovative, zero-waste wood construction solutions in line with New European Bauhaus values.
To support potential applicants, WoodStock will host one online information sessions: 1 September 2026 at 16:00 CEST.
