We are here to share with you new ESC long term opportunities in Santander, Spain!
1. ONCE project
3 spots are available for those who are open-minded, enjoy physical activity, and don’t require a visa to stay in Spain. Knowledge of Spanish is not obligatory but it can be a plus.
Place: Santander, Spain
Dates: May 2025 – December 2025
Topic: Social inclusion
Volunteers’ activities:
– Accompaniment to people with visual impairments to help them run daily tasks (bank, doctor, shopping);
– Helping them to participate in activities organized by ONCE (accompany them from their homes to ONCE and back home) and support in different workshops: ceramics, reading, theatre);
– Accompaniment in excursions or trekking, in big events and celebrations
– Going for a walk with them (to the beach, to the park…) offering their company.
Volunteers’ profile:
– motivated and responsible, whose physical and mental condition is compatible with project duties;
– a person with no mobility problems and motivated enough (sometimes, the Project activities can seem routine);
– flexible (the activities have no fixed timetable, as they mostly depend on the needs of ONCE members);
– able to motivate a person with visual impairment to go out and enrich their social life,
– ready to live in a shared room with another European volunteer;
– basic level of Spanish is an asset previous experience with people at risk of social exclusion or experience as an animator or youth leader, as well as having worked with the elderly, is welcome (however not necessary);
– Interest in leisure time activities and sports.

2. AMPROS and Ser Joven
One place is available for someone who is motivated and comfortable to work with people with dissabilities. Knowledge of Spanish is not obligatory but it can be a plus.
Place: Santander, Spain
Dates: May 2025 – December 2025
Topic: Social inclusion + Youth work
Volunteers’ activities:
– The main task of the volunteer is to accompany the users during different free time daily activities scheduled by the center, for example walks, games, regional dances, cooking workshops, karaoke, sports activities, zumba, hand crafts, theater, camps etc.
– Moreover, the volunteer gets the chance to take part in special events organized by Ampros, like Winter Festival, San Valentine’s Day, Holiday Program, Summer Camps, weekend activities in a hostel, sports events and festivals.
Volunteers’ profile
– Someone who is ready to devote their free time for the benefit of the people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an altruistic way and whose physical and mental condition is compatible with project duties;
– Someone that feels comfortable occasionally assisting users who are less independent in ex. tying their shoes, helping them walk, assisting with personal hygiene and bathroom;
– A person with no mobility problems and motivated enough (sometimes, the project activities can seem routine);
– Flexible, with sense of initiative;
– Moreover, the volunteer should be ready to live in a shared room with other European volunteers.
