Volunteering chronicles – Read what iHIGHER volunteers are sharing!

Hello little smokinyas! Ilze and Carmen are here again! A lot of things have happened since the Christmas holidays and we would love to update you!

Last January we went to Pernik Festival, we were a huge group of volunteers from all around Bulgaria, we saw many performances with masks and customs, we ate typical food and drunk hot wine, and in general we spent such a nice day with all our friends although it was freezing!

Then, our lovely flatmates moved out to Momin-Prohod, it was a sad situation because we were a really good team. But we are very positive volunteers so we are not unhappy anymore. The first reason is because their town is pretty close to Sofia, we can see each other very often, and the second reason is that in April we will have new volunteers living with us which means fresh blood in our flat and new friends!

Regarding this topic, next weekend, we went to Momin-Prohod to visit them, at the beginning it was a little idea, just Ilze, Carmen and other close friends going there but at the end a huge group of volunteers ended up there. It was awesome! The weather was really nice, we spent two days in their house, it is huge and is beautifully decorated, so cozy and warm. We went to the mountain in the morning, we were singing, playing guitar, maintaining deep conversations and having fun all together.

Apart from this, we also went through a few bad days, we were sick around one week, we could not escape the virus that affected all of Bulgaria. Now, we are totally recovered and full of energy to continue with our work and life here in Sofia.

Some weeks ago we organized our first event, it was very successful – many people came, they had fun and they were so happy afterwards. We are organizing the next one while we are working on our personal projects and other duties that we have, so we are pretty busy volunteers right now which is good!

For our side that is all, now we are looking forward to spring to enjoy the good weather and visit friends throughout Bulgaria.

The best is yet to come!
