Hello!
For six months, two young volunteers will live in a remote village working to rebuild a school and learn more about and connect with the rural life and people. The project, called Rural Future, is co-funded by the EU through the ESC programme.
🛠️ If you like what you see, you can apply here.
ℹ️ You can get to know the project better here.
During the Rural Future Project, we are going to cover the weekly progress through the so-called “Weekly Recaps”. Here we will give a short overview of what is going on in this little village called Mrachenik and will report on our experiences.
Our Mrachenik volunteer team is made up of two people: Léo and Carlos. They all have different backgrounds and their ages span from 21-27 years.
Hello one more week! 👋
We are back one more week to keep you updated about what’s going on in Mrachenik.
This week, let us start a bit different: focusing on the Bulgarian lesson! This is a part of the volunteering that we don’t usually cover on our Weekly Recaps, but it’s key for the good development of the project.
Every week, Léo and Carlos receive one hour of Bulgarian lessons. For example, this week, they learnt the ordinal numbers in Bulgarian: first, second, third… Check out:

But, besides, the construction work doesn’t stop in the Bright Future Training Center. This week, the focus of the guys was on demolishing the old showers. It was a task that turned more difficult than expect at first. They expected the showers to be made of bricks, but they turned out to be made of pure concrete! And not only that: in the core, they were filled with big, heavy, unbreakable stones!
That’s why this task took for them 4 whole days. But, in the end, they achieved it:

Apart from demolition, there was more construction work. The other focus of the week was in the conference room. The guys are making it look nicer than ever for our next projects, the Bright Future 3.0, 3.1 and 2.2. That’s why this week they finished an ongoing task from last week: to fill the gaps between the window frames and the walls:

But, as soon as they finished with it, they didn’t loss time and started painting the walls bright white:

That’s all (so far)! We will be back next week with more!
