Hi, I’m Andrey. I’m 18 years old and from Portugal. I enjoy hands-on work, nature, and meeting new cultures. I just finished high school, and before continuing my studies, I decided to take a gap year to gain new experiences, such as volunteering.
I came with one objective: to become a better and more efficient person. This goal requires a lot of discipline and self-growth, exactly what Smokinya Foundation offers. I chose the Rural Future project because it best matched my interests: a rural life with hands-on work, exactly what I was looking for in a project. Getting out of my comfort zone was very challenging, but it’s the most important step towards growth.
Throughout the next few months, I hope to achieve the goals and mindset I’ve planned. Spending over six months in another country with a completely different culture and language is not easy, but I’m here to take on that challenge.
