The association “Il Beccogiallo” is, since 1986, a permanent place of comparison and cultural production which aims to promote aggregation and implementation of the society parts available to implement a real culture of childhood. The minor members, aged between 3 and 14, on daily basis 60 children, the adult members are 15 and they support the association operators. In 1994, the association drew up an agreement with the municipality of Matera for the Socio-Educational Service of disadvantaged minors and minor immigrants.
In the association, the problems related to this reality are supported by the valorisation of the cultural plurality and the different social situations existing. The association runs, during the year, daily activities for didactic support, manual and expressive body and scientific workshops related to the environment, psychophysical and emotional wellness. Many workshops and activities are implemented in cooperation with many different local organizations.
The volunteers will be involved in the following activities:
1) support the daily life of the association, helping the staff with after school activities of kids from 6 to 14 years or, leisure time activities for kids from 3 to 6 years, and general management of the space, break time, entrance and exit of the kids;
2) artistic and intercultural workshops aimed with the use of non-formal education methods: volunteers will be asked to contribute and use their ideas and skills to culturally enrich the laboratories;
3) activities related to literature, sports, music or theatre for children, sometimes open to parents and the local community; Volunteers will be involved from the preparation to the phase of implementation;
4) games and hands-on activities for learning foreign languages (English, French, Spanish): volunteers will support operators in teaching foreign languages and organize games that stimulate learning in children;
5) documentation of activities and updating the organization’s website;
6) organization of events for the promotion of the European voluntary service in collaboration with volunteers of B-Link;
7) realization of a personal project – depending on YOUR skills and capacities.
Beccogiallo searches for a person who does love CHILDREN, EDUCATION and FUN. It is important that the volunteer wants to be an example for the children and might have the goal to realize this kind of work as a profession in the future, so to have personal goals in learning education styles and be really supportive to the staff. It is possible to choose if to work with the class of the small ones (3-5 years) which means more leisure time activities or with the scholars (6-14 years) and support the home work and studying part. General request: between 20 and 30 years; basic Italian or French.

COST AND FEES
Smokinya Foundation operates thanks to hundreds of volunteering hours per month and donations.
We ask a contribution of 20 EUR /40 leva/ from all confirmed applicants.
Your donation covers some of our administrative and organisational expenses and supports Smokinya Foundation’s dream to establish youth-run international volunteering and training centre. In case the suggested donation amount is excessive for you, fill in the application form and contact us.
