Abracadabra means:“I will create as I speak”. It means that words, and our ability to tell stories, contribute to create the reality we live in.

We are telling stories all the times, to ourselves and others, through thinking and speaking. In
conflicts, we have the choice to tell stories of grief, judgment and misunderstanding, or to create
-through our language and actions- stories of authentic communication and fulfilled needs.

Using fictional stories, fairy tales, metaphorical images in order to approach the conflict, its
development, and all the beliefs and assumptions which come with it, is a powerful way
towards conflict transformation. Storytelling allows to connect with characters and situations
without feeling threatened, to communicate about challenges in real life through metaphors, to
bridge the gap between rational and emotional mind, and develop empathy and new perspectives.

The Youth-Workers and Trainers that will participate in will:

-Develop storytelling skills
-Discover the approach of storytelling and
how to use it in conflict transformation
-Gain ways to communicate in conflicts in
order to create connection, mutual
understanding and effective agreements
-Develop competences to handle conflicts, to
be used with and transferred to their target
-Acquire different methods to work using
storytelling as a tool in youth work, conflict
management and intercultural contexts
