Hi!
My name is Flavia. I am a twenty-year-old volunteer from Crodo, a small mountainous town in the Piedmont region of Italy, and I am excited to share my presentation report for the upcoming three-month volunteering project with Smokinya Foundation in Mrachenik, Bulgaria. Growing up surrounded by nature has deeply shaped my personality, making me an open-minded, dynamic, and attentive person who thrives in active environments. In my free time, I love running to maintain my health and energy, hiking in the mountains where I feel completely at home, reading books to reflect on the world, and constantly seeking new challenges to learn about unfamiliar topics. I discovered this amazing opportunity through an international mobility and volunteering newsletter, and I was immediately inspired by the philosophy of Smokinya Foundation, especially its focus on non-formal education and youth empowerment. I decided to accept this challenge because I strongly believe in active citizenship and social solidarity as tools for social change, and I want to step out of my comfort zone to test my independence and overcome language and cultural barriers. During my three months in Mrachenik, I commit to carrying out all official program activities with high dedication and seriousness, while adapting flexibly to any required tasks. I expect this experience to help me develop essential soft skills like intercultural communication and team problem-solving, build my self-confidence by managing daily life in a foreign rural environment, and create authentic, lifelong connections with other European volunteers, the foundation staff, and the local community.
