We at Smokinya are glad to share with you new ESC long-term opportunities in Poland!

The Stowarzyszenie Promocji Wolontariatu organisation invites you to take part in their projects. 14 places are available for those interested in developing themselves and helping a local community.


1. Kindergarten in Pułtusk – 4 volunteers

The four volunteers help in organizing everyday activities and assist teachers but are also invited to take the initiative and promote the development of workshops, presentations and other activities thought to introduce their culture and language to the group. The kindergarten is open from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM, but the main activities take place from 9 AM to 3 PM, which are volunteers’ working hours.

For this project, SPW asks volunteers to be patient, willing to work with children, creative and reliable. Having a “certificate of no criminal record” is required in order to work with children.

2. Public library in Przasnysz – 2 volunteers

Przasnysz Municipal Library is a public institution responsible for keeping more than 50,000 books and making them accessible to the inhabitants of this city. It also organizes concerts, technological workshops, book discussion clubs, language courses and other events thought with the aim of reaching all age groups.

There, two volunteers support the staff in the preparation and running the activities and take charge of the library’s social media channels. They are also invited to develop their own initiatives, especially if they add some intercultural dimension to the library program. Interest in Polish culture and literature is an important aspect.

3. Public library in Pomiechówek – 1 volunteer

The Public Library of Pomiechówek Commune is an institution focused on meeting the reading needs of the population of this town. In addition to activities strictly related to its collection, it organizes meetings with authors, book discussion clubs, workshops and other activities which aim is to promote the act of reading and transform the library into a meeting place for everyone.

The volunteer who stays there is invited to collaborate on tasks such as arranging books and the online promotion of the library. The volunteer is also encouraged to organize meetings and events for the local community, as well as to visit kindergartens and schools with the aim of promoting reading and intercultural education. This volunteer should be interested in literature, history and culture in order to take the maximum profit of the experience.

4. Rehabilitation Center in Helenów (Warsaw) – 4 volunteers

elenów is a complex of institutions settled in the Varsovian district of Międzylesie which focuses its efforts on providing education, treatment and welfare for people with disabilities. Even if the Centre is specialized in the treatment of children with Central Nervous System dysfunctions, it is currently helping around 200 kids and youngsters with developmental disorders such as autism, Asperger’s syndrome and sensory integration dysfunctions.

SPW volunteers take part in three different activities in Helenów:

– Supporting Hippotherapy Sessions
– Supporting Helenów’s Boarding School
– Supporting Helenów’s Vocational School

5. Culture Center in Pomiechówek – 1 volunteer

The Cultural Centre of Pomiechówek Commune is an entity thought to promote the cultural dialog in this Mazovian town. Its aim is to reach out to different age and social groups with a diverse offer that includes painting and handicraft classes, theater workshops, language courses, yoga sessions and even martial art training.

There, the volunteer acts as a part of the team by supporting regular classes, events run by the Centre and intercultural and artistic activities proposed by the volunteer themselves. This person must be motivated to work with people of all ages (from small children to seniors) and able to work in an independent way. Being interested in activities such as art, music, dance and theater is also important.

6. SPW office in Warsaw – 2 volunteers

As part of its job in promoting international volunteering, SPW is actively involved in the creation of audiovisual and written content for its social media. That is the reason why two of the volunteers are required to stay in its headquarters of the NGO and ensure a proper diffusion of the work that SPW is doing. These volunteers need to have an active knowledge of social media, as well as some basic graphic design and photo editing skills.

Another important aspect of this project is the participation in events related to international programs for youth, volunteering and promotion of European values. This task can bring the volunteers to give speeches in Polish schools, helping in preparatory for future volunteers and leading SPW workcamps during the summer season.

IMPORTANT
Obligatory pre-departure meeting: date, time, place – to be announced and sent upon confirmation.
Come in person to learn about Smokinya, Erasmus+, this project, reimbursement and ask your questions.
Participation is obligatory, an option is to join via Skype / Hangouts apps.

This is learning program funded by Erasmus+ programme.
That requires commitment. You will be asked to organise a follow-up activity after the program.
The program is intensive and challenging.
The program does NOT include cultural and touristic sightseeing.

Apply only when you know you want to participate and you have the dates of the training available.
Travel reimbursement is only sent to those who fully participate in all phases, including the follow-up and dissemination.
General applications are disregarded.


COST AND FEES
This project is funded by Erasmus+ programme: accommodation, food, materials, the programme and the travel costs up to the maximum allowed amount are fully covered. No fees.
