Branch clipping and weed removal
We finally fully cleared the corner we were working on! It took a little bit more than a full working day in total but last week we finally got it done, until everything starts growing back ofcourse 🙂 . On Thursday last week all 5 of us made sure we reserved the whole afternoon for this task, we were going to finish it no matter what! Luckily we did not have to work much overtime since we were done around 17:30 with the task. And right after we could immediately check the difference since we had our weekly shopping trip to Karlovo. Léo, who was driving, said it made a huge difference in road safety since he was able to see so much more the corner we clipped the branches and weeds. The difference is like day and night! Now that we are done with this corner we can move onto the next one and after that corner is done, we will move on to the next one after that and after that one we will move onto yet another corner …

LIDL fund
This week we also spent a lot of time on brainstorming for a project which we can apply with to get funding from LIDL. We went to 3 phases; the creative phase when no idea was too big; then we went into the critics phase in which we tried to be the harshest critics for the ideas we came up with; and finally we went into the realistic phase that is kind of a mix of the first two phases. In this final phase our goal was to find a specific project with the highest chance to succeed in getting the funding and is also a project that will actually benefit the people in Mrachenik and Smokinya in her future goals of non-formal education. It is still an ongoing process but we will keep you updated on how things go in the future.

Chicken update
Let’s start off by saying that the chickens are all doing amazing and that they are all still alive and well. All 5 of them are fully 100% healthy! They all have their own progress when it comes to getting comfortable in the still new environment for them, but that is something that in time they surely will do. More and more they are learning how everything works; going to the roosting area by themselves, finding a nice spot for their dustbaths, … . Hopefully they will also soon start laying eggs and maybe at some point we could even have cute baby chicks.
