Hello everyone!
August has officially arrived, and it started in the best possible way—with the village festival! Music, a wonderful atmosphere, and plenty of activities for our little friends to enjoy. It was great to see the children having fun with everything we had prepared for them.
On Monday, we woke up at 5:30 a.m. because we’re still trying to find the perfect working schedule. This week we tested a 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. shift, hoping to avoid the unbearable summer heat.
Our morning mission was to map every bench in the village. In the coming weeks, we’ll start repairing the damaged ones and maybe even build new benches in places where we think they would be useful for the local community—or simply in beautiful spots where people can sit down, relax, and enjoy the view.
On Tuesday, our task changed. This time, we explored the areas around the village to locate places where rubbish had been illegally dumped.
Both morning missions were surprisingly enjoyable. Exploring the village while the weather was still cool made the work much more pleasant. Of course, during the second half of the day, we continued clearing weeds around different areas.
While clearing weeds in one of the areas, we came across some unusual abandoned items, including a manual meat grinder and a huge metal bowl. Naturally, we couldn’t resist joking that Dario finally had everything he needed to give us a drum performance!Wednesday started with more weed clearing in different locations around the village. At the end of the day, however, we had the opportunity to help a local family clean their garden. As a thank-you, they prepared a delicious barbecue for us. We were truly grateful for their kindness and hospitality—it was a wonderful way to end the day.
Unfortunately, Thursday morning greeted us with another surprise: the water still hadn’t returned. Yes… we experienced another water outage that had started on Wednesday afternoon.
Since the natural spring near the training centre was providing only a very small amount of water, we had to find another solution. Leo and Vic drove to a nearby village to refill our emergency water containers.
The rest of the day was dedicated to improving the training centre. We organised firewood, installed curtains in the bathrooms and toilets, and worked on building a shelf to make the bathroom area more practical, especially since we’re looking forward to welcoming the new Vitality Vibes project very soon.
On Friday, we focused on cleaning and clearing weeds around the training centre, including the yard and the road in front of the building. We also continued organising the firewood for future use.
The next few days are our days off, so it’s time for a little break! See you next week—and now we have to go catch the bus!
Until next time!
