Who is it for?

The project will involve 33 participants who:
• are active in youth work with at least 1 year of experience
• are between the age of 24 and 45
• actively work as peer educators
• want to develop competencies and confidence to design and facilitate impactful non-formal learning processes
• want to learn how to turn their activities into engaging learning experiences for participants

Training design

This training is designed for youth workers, trainers and facilitators who actively work in the field and want to strengthen their facilitation skills and create meaningful learning experiences for others.

To get the most from the experience, we invite participants to come with prepared activities they want to improve during the training.

What is this training about?

This training is based on experiential learning – learning by doing, reflecting, and applying. Throughout the week, participants will explore the role of a trainer and develop practical competencies that can be transferred directly into their own work.

Together we will explore:
• Facilitation skills and trainer competencies
• Experiential learning and the Kolb cycle
• Active listening and communication
• Using questions as a tool
• Reflection and debriefing methods
• Storytelling as a learning tool
• Designing engaging learning processes
• Understanding target groups and identifying their needs (Galan)
• 5 elements of non-formal education: how to make learning relevant, gradual, engaging, reflective and transferable
• What makes the activity educational?
• Foundation of listening
• Psychological beginning
• Group dynamics and teamwork
• State management and presence as a facilitator
• Giving and receiving feedback
• Learning transfer and application in practice
• Creativity in facilitation process
• Handling challenging situations

How will we learn?

The training follows a highly participatory approach.

Participants will:
• Design and facilitate activities for their peers
• Receive structured feedback on their facilitation
• Experiment with different training methods and tools
• Work in small reflection groups
• Reflect on personal learning goals throughout the week
• Connect learning to their own professional context

By the end of the training, participants will:

• Feel more confident in facilitating groups
• Understand how to design educational learning processes
• Use reflection and debriefing more effectively
• Apply active listening and questioning techniques
• Adapt activities to the needs of different target groups
• Better understand group dynamics and participant engagement
• Leave with practical tools and methods ready to use in their own work

Follow up Activities

After the projects we ask participants to:
• Organise at least one learning activity within their partner organisation, applying the methods and approaches learned during the training.
• Integrate the methods from the training into other programmes and activities organised by the partner organisations.
• Use their favourite and most engaging practices to create a shared toolkit, which will be published on partners’ websites as a resource for youth workers and organisations.
• Contribute to project visibility through testimonials, photos, videos, and other social media content
• Submit a short report after completing these activities, describing their actions and the impact they created
