1. Hand in hand for nature – and Europe!

📍 Location: Enkenbach, Germany
📅 Dates: August 02 – August 16, 2025
👥 Age Range: 16-26

Description of work

You will be part of an international team and help to maintain and develop a nature trail. The nature trail is a project that offers children and their parents an insight into the local flora and fauna. You will be responsible for the care and maintenance of the trail – this means that you will look after the vegetation, remove weeds and ensure that the trail always remains passable. You will also help to expand the nature trail by setting up new themed stations that are exciting and educational for visitors. In addition to the practical work, we would also like to deal with the topic of the EU and democracy – why is the EU important for young people? The European Union affects us all and young people in particular can benefit from it. It enables you to live, learn and work in different Europeancountries. As an EU citizen, you can easily travel and gain experience in other countries – be it for an internship, study or simply for an adventure. Europe is more than just a political union – it is a community of opportunities and possibilities for young people. If necessary, there will be an excursion to Strasbourg. We are currently seeing many anti-democratic developments. In our camp, we would also like to discuss the importance of democracy in our get-together.

2. Nature and the Environment – How Climate Change is Affecting Our Forests!

📍 Location: Trassem, Germany
📅 Dates: August 30 – September 12, 2025
👥 Age Range: 16-26

Description of work

The small town of Trassem is located in the border triangle of France, Germany and Luxembourg, in the heart of Europe. With your help, we are continuing to build the various components of the natural history station, the “Trassem Forest Experience Center”. The focus is on work such as the completion of natural dry stone walls. Together with young people from the region, you will maintain the forest adventure trail and the attractive freeride and mountain bike trails. You will also carry out a wide range of work in the surrounding forests and orchards. Not only can you learn a lot about the consequences of climate change for the forest and nature, but you can also take part in a wide range of nature activities and play an active role in shaping them.

3. From Forced Labor to a Sustainable Future: A Walk through the History and Present of Exploitation

📍 Location: Egelsbach, Germany
📅 Dates: August 17 – August 31, 2025
👥 Age Range: 16-26

Description of work

This year, we would like to address the issue of fair working and living conditions and the exploitation of people and nature. Naturefriends were founded many years ago on this basis. On the one hand, you will be working with fellow Naturefriends Egelsbach to renovate a barefoot path and restore a small wooden tepee on the site. While working together, you can also learn a lot about the history and activities of Naturefriends. On the other hand, you will also approach the topic in terms of content in this camp. We want to go on a search for clues in the Frankfurt area with you: Where are there examples from history and how can we protect people and nature and prevent exploitation today in a globalized world? We have planned various excursions for this purpose. Among other things, you will visit the Adlerwerke historical site in Frankfurt: This site commemorates forced labor in Frankfurt am Main during the Nazi era as well as the “Katzbach” concentration camp, which was located in the Adlerwerke from August 1944. Due to current political developments, it is important to us to visit this place of remembrance with you as a place of exploitation. Then we want to look at our current living environment with you and take part in a consumer-critical city tour: Here you will learn more about the global connections between our consumption and its social and ecological consequences. We would like to encourage you to take a critical look at your own consumer behavior and show you alternative consumption and action options. You can then talk about other topics in small discussion groups in your accommodation and perhaps you would like to think about your own project such as upcycling or sharing principles etc. In addition to the intensive exchange and the excursions, there will be enough time to go on excursions during the weekend or to explore Frankfurt in the evenings during the week.
