Who Can Join a Dejavato Project?
Volunteers between the ages of 18 and 40 are welcome to join, with prior consultation for those above 40. No specific physical strength is required, but certain projects may ask for specific skills (detailed below). Volunteers must have a keen interest in the project goals and a willingness to adapt to simple living conditions.
Basic Requirements:
- Health and Mobility: Volunteers should have good physical and mental health. While we strive to be inclusive, some projects may have physical and environmental limitations.
- Open Mindset: Be adaptable, patient and respectful of local customs and rules. Volunteers should embrace cultural diversity and enjoy working in teams.
- Language Skills: English is commonly used, but learning basic Indonesian (Bahasa) is highly encouraged for effective communication.
Dejavato programs are NOT suitable for those solely seeking a vacation experience.
Qualifications and Expectations:
- Respect and Responsibility: Volunteers are expected to honor Dejavato’s guidelines and local cultural norms. Politeness and respect towards hosts and peers are mandatory.
- Team Spirit: Volunteers must share tasks, including cooking, cleaning and other daily responsibilities. Active participation in group activities is crucial for success.
- Community Engagement: Engage in sustainable, community-focused initiatives. Activities may include restoration work, teaching or conservation efforts depending on the project.
- Confidence and Creativity: Volunteers working with students or children should be confident and creative, capable of motivating and inspiring the participants.
Project Costs and Benefits: What should I pay?
Fees for Participation:
- Short-term projects (1-2 weeks): €330-490 (varies by project).
- Mid-to-long-term programs: Specific details provided upon inquiry.
What the Fees Cover:
- Accommodation and meals during the project.
- Transportation between the meeting point and project site.
- Orientation and evaluation meetings.
- Access to materials and support from experienced coordinators.
Payments must be made via WISE online transfer at least 30 days before the project begins. Refund policies are available but limited, with no refunds for cancellations within 30 days of the start date.
Visa info
Volunteers need appropriate visas based on their project duration:
- Short-term volunteers (less than 30 days): Visa on Arrival (VoA).
- Mid-to-long-term volunteers (4 weeks to 6 months): Single Entry Visit Visa Type C6.
Dejavato can assist with visa applications for eligible participants. Volunteers are advised NOT to purchase flight tickets until their placement and visa are confirmed.
