1. Volunteer at youth center ” Polaris”
The open youth center polaris regards itself as part of the local educational landscape and aims at creating favorable conditions for young people to grow up.
Our volunteers support us to run the place and help with daily procedures. There is a lot of time to
participate in any activities with the kids: play games, just talk and hang out and listen to very loud
music.
2. Volunteer at youth center Westside
The youth center Westside formerly know as Treffpunkt is a municipal institution, which is situated in Jena Lobeda-Ost. At our open space, kids and young people from the age of 12 to 21 can hang out and spend their leisure time.
Our volunteers support us to run the place and help with daily procedures. There is a lot of time to
participate in any activities with the kids: play games, just talk and hang out and listen to very loud
music.
3. Volunteer at Waldkindergarten
Waldkindergarten is a kindergarten with a forest pedagogical and open approach for children between one year and school entrance. In our work, we dedicate ourselves to the ethical values according to nature and environmental education. Basically, we are out in nature in any weather, except during storms or temperatures far below freezing.
The volunteers accompany the children playing, carving, crafting, climbing and having lunch and vespers. In addition, there are small household tasks to do, in which all employees of the kindergarten help.
4. Volunteer at youth center KLEX
KLEX is an institution of the “KOMME e.V.” which is a non-profit association. KLEX is a child- and youthcenter in Jena-Lobeda and is open for children and teenagers between the age of 10 and 14 years and their parents. We offer space for exploration inside and outside of our building and we also work together with different social institutions and groups in Jena.
Our volunteers support us to run the place and help with daily procedures. There is a lot of time to participate in any activities with the kids: play games, just talk and hang out and listen to very loud music.
5. Volunteer at Eurowerkstatt Jena E.V.
Eurowerkstatt Jena e.V. is a non-profit association that was established in 2006. We are active in the field of child and youth welfare and the international (youth) work of the city of Jena. The goal of our organisation is the creation of offers for young people to develop social and vocational abilities, particularly intercultural abilities. We want to sensitise young people to their possibilities and chances they have within Europe.
Hosting: you will have the possibility to keep Eurowerkstatt updated on how the volunteers are doing, from roommate difficulties, to activities they would like to organise together, so Eurowerkstatt can help to restore a positive atmosphere.
Sending: you will have to support our team with presentations (sometimes even make them) in schools and youthcenters about going abroad as a young person. You will have to share your experience as an ESC volunteer and make some publicity for the ESC-project in general.
6. Volunteer at SV Otto-Schott Jena
The section table tennis of the SV SCHOTT Jena e.V. consists of approximately 200 active members. More than 90 of these members are minors.
Teaching children and youngsters on very different levels the sports of table tennis, from beginners, aged 5/6 to advanced and performance orientated young adults.
7. Volunteer at Kindergarten Sprachkiste
Located in the middle of the city center between the institutes and the residential area of Damenviertel, there
is a villa that has been available as a kindergarten since April 2019. Our kindergarten offers an ideal educational home for up to 60 children from 13 months to school age.
The volunteer has the opportunity to grow with his/her tasks and acquire and develop independence, tolerance, communication skills, as well as professional and social competence. The volunteer will support the duties of the educators.
8. Volunteer at Freizeitladen
Freizeitladen is a social institution for kids and youth. We welcome children at the age of 8 to 14 years after
they finished their day at school, these children live partly under difficult family circumstances. In addition to
family and school, Freizeitladen offers a large number of projects and is, therefore, an important part of their
socialization.
The volunteer is an equal part of the team. He/she will be included in the pedagogical and daily work as well. In the pedagogical part of the work, he/she can plan and arrange own projects, of course with the support of the whole team.
9. Volunteer at Kindergarten “Sausewind”
A kindergarten which works with the special pedagogical methods of Maria Montessori. They work independently of ideological and religious confessions as well as parties and other political currents.
The volunteer has the opportunity to grow with his/her tasks and acquire and develop independence, tolerance, communication skills, as well as professional and social competence. The volunteer will support the duties of the educators.

Participation is obligatory, an option is to join via Skype / Hangouts apps.

Smokinya Foundation operates thanks to hundreds of volunteering hours per month and donations.
We ask a contribution of 20 EUR /40 leva/ from all confirmed applicants.
Your donation covers some of our administrative and organisational expenses and supports Smokinya Foundation’s dream to establish youth-run international volunteering and training centre. In case the suggested donation amount is excessive for you, fill in the application form and contact us.
