Smokinya Foundation is on Workaway

Smokinya Foundation is a Workaway hosting organisation as of December 2023

About “Workaway”
Workaway is a platform that allows members to receive homestays and food in exchange for a pre-agreed amount of time per day of work. The opportunities on offer are varied and based in a wide range of countries around the world.

A Workawayer is: a traveller who wants to give back to the communities and places they visit. Open to helping hosts and using the experience to learn and immerse in the local culture.

How it generally works on Workaway:

  1. Travellers: Individuals or couples looking to travel sign up on Workaway.info, create a profile, and browse through host listings in various countries.
  2. Hosts: People or organisations looking for help with various tasks, such as gardening, childcare, language practice, or housekeeping, can also create profiles on Workaway. They provide accommodations and meals in exchange for a few hours of work each day.
  3. Arrangement: Travelers and hosts connect through the platform and, if both parties agree, they make arrangements for the stay. The length of the stay and the type of work vary depending on the agreement between the traveler and the host.
  4. Cultural Exchange: The primary focus is on cultural exchange and learning. Traveler get a chance to experience the local culture, language, and lifestyle, while hosts benefit from the assistance provided by the traveler.

Non-profit Educational and Volunteering Centre near Plovdiv, Bulgaria:

Smokinya Foundation is offering opportunities for the travellers to join its “Educational and Volunteering Centre” in Mrachenik, near Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In 2023 the accumulated circumstances of initiative, experience, credibility and reliability, track record and some luck got altogether aligned and we got the chance to start a rural educational centre.

We prefer people with experience who can have a positive impact on the project of revitalising the village by improving the conditions of the old building and its garden.
