About the projects:
1. Project: Auslandsinstitut der Auslandsgesellschaft
Coordinating organisation: Auslandsgesellschaft.de
Host: Auslandsgesellschaft,de e.V. : http://www.auslandsgesellschaft.de
Media work in the Auslandsinstitut. You help to realise the presentation and media work for bilateral honorary country circles. They organise discussions , exhibitions, meetings, seminars with people form the both countries. Many possibilties to realise own ideas and projects.
The Auslandsinstitut (Foreign Institute) works under the aegis of the Auslandsgesellschaft. The Institute communicates a wealth of information about “foreign” cultures as well as developing and maintaining contacts in numerous other countries.
The main element supporting this work are the thirty bilateral country circles each run by honorary officials. Thanks to their workshops, talks, forums, concerts and exhibitions, they facilitate encounters and convey knowledge about life in other countries in Europe and throughout the world. Native Dortmundians and members of the ethnic communities are actively committed here.
The individual volunteer would work in the department media work that is part of the Auslandsinstitut.. At the same time, the volunteers would be expected to implement their own project focused on the concept of “We in Europe”.
One result would be cultural input for both the Foreign Institute and the local community.
Within the framework of their country circle involvement, the volunteers will be able to gather practical knowledge and intercultural experience with German society and other ways of life.
She will learn how to prepare and present media products, flyers, poster, press refues, and helps to realise sometimes the discussion forums, talks, readings, country theme weeks, dances and musical soirées.
In their encounters with the honorary officials from different ethnic backgrounds, the individual volunteers will get to know, on the one hand, cultural similarities and differences.
Task
he country circle leaders and the Foreign Institute management would also want the volunteers to put forward their own ideas for events which they could subsequently organise under supervision. Such events in the past have been: a reading from the volunteers’ land of origin; the volunteer giving a talk about the political situation or about the situation for young people in that country; a musical evening; the compilation of reports about similar events; and meetings with young Dortmundians to discuss the “We in Europe” agenda.
This is a learning program. It requires full focus and participation.

Auslandsgesellschaft e.V. / Department International Exchange
The superordinate project goal is to increase respect for other cultures in Europe by way of youth exchange programmes. In the process of planning and organising youth exchange visits and trips, then, the volunteer will help to organize study trips and youth exchange programs in the office, It is envisaged that the volunteers get involved in an existing youth exchange programme. And this is one reason why they should also join in project-related learning activities in the department and at the country seminars. Part of the project is to help with tasks in the department. In addition, the team of EVS volunteers at the AG NRW will organise EVS information events under the supervision of the tutor.
