Description
The Portuguese Red Cross – Local Branch of Cucujães is looking for motivated young people interested in making a positive difference in a local community in Northern Portugal. This initiative aims to strengthen social cohesion and promote the well-being of vulnerable groups. As a volunteer, tasks include: · working with Children and Youth · activities with Elderly People (leisure time, support in Kitchen and Laundry) · leisure time activities for People with disabilities · Maintenance and Cleaning of a Pilgrim Shelter · activities with People recovering from addictions · General Community (activities related to Environment & Sustainability, Sports & Physical Well-Being). This is a hands-on volunteering project that gives volunteers the opportunity to engage with different target groups within the community and where volunteers can gain practical experience and develop valuable skills.
Participant profile
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed young people between 18-30 years old who are available to embark on a long-term volunteering project, who are interested in the Social/ Community work field. People who are hands-on / practical and are interested in joining an international team of volunteers in Portugal! This is an opportunity that can be especially interesting for all those interested in changing careers, discover what they would like to do in the future or gaining new skills.People who have never volunteered abroad before and have always had the curiosity to do it! This is an opportunity that can be especially interesting for all those interested in changing careers, discover what they would like to do in the future or gaining new skills. No previous experience required.
IMPORTANT
Obligatory pre-departure meeting: – to be announced and sent upon confirmation.
Come in person to learn about Smokinya, Erasmus+, this project, reimbursement and ask your questions.
Participation is obligatory, an option is to join via Skype / Hangouts apps.

Smokinya Foundation operates thanks to hundreds of volunteering hours per month and donations.
We ask a contribution of 20 EUR /40 leva/ from all confirmed applicants.
Your donation covers some of our administrative and organisational expenses and supports Smokinya Foundation’s dream to establish youth-run international volunteering and training centre. In case the suggested donation amount is excessive for you, fill in the application form and contact us.
