My time in Smokinya Foundation is coming to an end. This project was quite special for me, because activities were very varied and I could experience many new things.
I started the adventure in the office. I learned to use Canva and create website posts. One of my responsibilities was also looking for project participants and preparing them for upcoming mobilities. In my free time I was visiting Plovdiv’s museums and galleries.

Three weeks later I was coordinating a team of volunteers painting road signs and bridges in a small village. We went to Mrachenik for a camp and life took a 180 degree turn. I was also cleaning walls, cutting trees, learning how to make a pizza from an expert… While doing my tasks I cooperated a lot with locals. This time I spent my weekends hiking with other volunteers, local guide and occasionally hundreds of butterflies flying around us.

During this project I gained many skills, both soft and practical. Work wasn’t always easy, but I feel like we helped villagers a lot. Mrachenik looks nicer because of the things I did with my team, but, what is maybe more important, we also had an impact on villagers’ lives by having conversations with them, sharing meals and organizing a festival. Thanks to Smokinya Foundation I could experience city as well as rural areas of Bulgaria and I really enjoyed them both.
