Pride Begins, Volunteering Teams Project

Pride Begins is a volunteering teams project for 38 days in Riga, Latvia, in which you can join and become a vibrant part of Active Rainbow crew and community, focusing on LGBTQIA+ education, activism and community building. By joining in this, you will be a part of organizing the next Riga Pride! Festival 2023 and co-creating your dream community with 10 volunteers from around Europe. During this program you will be able to learn how to organize a Pride festival.
Learn about the culture and promoting solidarity, inclusivity, nurturance and equity in Latvia. Learn from peers, local and international, exchange experiences and contribute to mutually inspiring and empowering each other.
We are looking for participants:
• 18-30 years old
• Part of the LGBTQIA+ community or an ally to the community
• Legal residents of one of the Erasmus+ programme countries with no visa needed to enter Latvia
• Willing to increase your personal competencies and self-empowerment during your experience and throughout the explored topics
• Enthusiastic to contribute to the activities of the organization and to the Festival and eager to take initiatives and create opportunities for themselves and society
• Eager to be challenged into aligning together with people from different cultures
• Able to work and communicate in simple English
IMPORTANT
Obligatory pre-departure meeting: date, time, place – to be announced and sent upon confirmation.
Come in person to learn about Smokinya, Erasmus+, this project, reimbursement and ask your questions.
Participation is obligatory, an option is to join via Skype / Hangouts apps.

The program does NOT include cultural and touristic sightseeing.

COST AND FEES
This project is funded by the European Solidarity Corps programme: accommodation, food, materials, the programme and the travel costs up to the maximum allowed amount are fully covered. No fees.
Maximum travel reimbursement for Bulgarians: 360 EUR OR 410 EUR Green Travel per person.
Smokinya Foundation operates thanks to hundreds of volunteering hours per month and donations.
We ask a contribution of 20 EUR /40 leva/ from all confirmed applicants.
Your donation covers some of our administrative and organisational expenses and supports Smokinya Foundation’s dream to establish youth-run international volunteering and training centre. In case the suggested donation amount is excessive for you, fill in the application form and contact us.
