This week was a bit different because we had five days of vacation. Everyone chose to spend the time in their own way.
Hager, Batul and Dario stayed at the school and used the time to relax, cook together, learn new things and build memories together. Kiryaki and Amina stayed for one day before travelling to Burgas and Sozopol, where they enjoyed the beach, camping and the fresh air. Other volunteers
travelled to Istanbul, exploring the city, visiting tourist spots, walking around and buying souvenirs.
On Thursday, we were back to work. Some volunteers organized the sticks, moved them to the storage area, removed nails, and prepared the smaller pieces for the fire. Another group worked on the benches; they made dimensions for the benches that had been mapped out before the vacation and checked whether any of them needed specific adjustments and where to build another one if necessary.
On Friday, the remaining sticks and the ones collected from around will be burned. Other groups are removing weeds around the school, while one volunteer is preparing for movie night tonight,
including making the poster.
And that’s how the week went: a mix of relaxation, travelling, exploring, working and spending time together!
